In March 2021 Signpost International launched their first UK food project, The Roundhouse Community Kitchen in Dundee. The mission of this project is to transform surplus food destined for waste into freshly prepared, nutritious meals for distribution by foodbanks and larders across the city to people in need of support. With an estimated 26,000 tonnes of food being wasted every year in Dundee alone, no-one should be going hungry. The Community Kitchen, in partnership with food provision charities, has been playing a vital part in tackling the issue of hunger that exists locally.
The Roundhouse Kitchen helps close the loop between food waste and food insecurity by sending freshly-cooked meals each week to Dundee Foodbank and local food larders.
The kitchen is open throughout the week for staff and volunteers.
Please get in touch if you’d like to volunteer.
How can you help?
Our projects mainly run due to the hard working & faithful volunteers that want to make a difference in Dundee. Maybe you could become one of them? And help our food projects thrive, impacting people and communities.

Food Project Coordinator
“I have joined Signpost as I love the whole idea behind the food projects at the Roundhouse, taking surplus food that was going to be thrown out and turning it into meals. It is great that we can take the surplus food and produce meals that can be given to those who need a little support and also create dishes that can be enjoyed by customers in the café. In my spare time I love taking my dog for long walks, I also really enjoy gardening, going swimming and spending time with my family.”

I love coming to the Roundhouse. Last year I brought my class every year and I’ve came here on my own and with colleagues and with my partner. Really lovely place and the staff are just wonderful. The baked goods from the team are amazing and I couldn’t recommend more!
